Transmission spectroscopy of the ultra-hot Jupiter MASCARA-4 b

چکیده

Ultra-hot Jupiters (UHJs), rendering the hottest planetary atmospheres, offer great opportunities of detailed characterisation with high-resolution spectroscopy. MASCARA-4 b is a recently discovered close-in gas giant belonging to this category. In order refine system and planet parameters, we carried out radial velocity measurements transit photometry CORALIE spectrograph EulerCam at Swiss 1.2m Euler telescope. We observed two transits ESPRESSO ESO's Very Large Telescope. searched for atomic, ionic, molecular species via individual absorption lines cross-correlation techniques. These results are compared literature studies on UHJs characterised date. With observations, updated mass (1.675 +/- 0.241 Jupiter masses) as well other parameters. transmission spectrum derived from resolve excess by H$\alpha$, H$\beta$, Na D1 & D2, Ca+ H K, few strong Mg, Fe Fe+. also present detection Ca, Cr, The strength Fe+ significantly exceeds prediction hydrostatic atmospheric model, commonly in UHJs. attribute presence exosphere due hydrodynamic outflows. This further supported positive correlation strengths H$\alpha$ line. Comparing signatures various UHJ population allows us disentangle regime (as traced Mg Fe) exospheres probed Fe+) strongly irradiated atmospheres.

Ground - Based Transit Spectroscopy of the Hot - Jupiter Wasp - 19 B in the near - Infrared

We present ground-based measurements of the transmission and emission spectra of the hot-Jupiter WASP-19b in nine spectroscopic channels from 1.25 to 2.35μm. The measurements are based on the combined analysis of time-series spectroscopy obtained during two complete transits and two complete secondary eclipses of the planet. The observations were performed with the MMIRS instrument on the Magel...

THE HIGH ALBEDO OF THE HOT JUPITER KEPLER-7 b

Hot Jupiters are expected to be dark from both observations (albedo upper limits) and theory (alkali metals and/or TiO and VO absorption). However, only a handful of hot Jupiters have been observed with high enough photometric precision at visible wavelengths to investigate these expectations. The NASA Kepler mission provides a means to widen the sample and to assess the extent to which hot Jup...

Jupiter ' s Hot , Mushy

Jupiter's moon Io is the most volcanically active body in the Solar System. Observations by instruments on the Galileo spacecraft and on telescopes atop Maunakea in Hawai'i indicate that lava flows on Io are surprisingly hot, over 1200 oC and possibly as much as 1300 oC; a few areas might have lava flows as hot as 1500 oC. Such high temperatures imply that the lava flows are composed of rock th...

HST/STIS OPTICAL TRANSIT TRANSMISSION SPECTRA OF THE HOT-JUPITER HD209458b

We present the transmission spectra of the hot-Jupiter HD209458b taken with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph aboard the Hubble Space Telescope. Our analysis combines data at two resolutions and applies a complete pixel-by-pixel limb-darkening correction to fully reveal the spectral line shapes of atmospheric absorption features. Terrestrial-based Na I and H I contamination are identifie...

HST hot-Jupiter transmission spectral survey: haze in the atmosphere of WASP-6b

We report Hubble Space Telescope optical to near-infrared transmission spectroscopy of the hot-Jupiter WASP-6b, measured with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph and Spitzer’s InfraRed Array Camera. The resulting spectrum covers the range 0.29–4.5μm. We find evidence for modest stellar activity of WASP-6 and take it into account in the transmission spectrum. The overall main characteristic...
